Do we have a new school name?
Yes, 138th Street has officially been renamed Aviation Elementary. To learn more about school renaming in the Wiseburn Unified School District, read Dr. Silvers’ letter to the community here.
Do we have a new principal?
Yes, Ms. Summer Graves is the new principal of Aviation Elementary School. Ms. Graves brings extensive experience in the field of education, having served as a teacher and administrator in the Wiseburn Unified School District for the past 17 years. Most recently, Ms. Graves served as the Assistant Principal at 138th and Cabrillo. Throughout her teaching career, Ms. Graves was involved in various leadership roles including Mentor Teacher, Elementary Project Lead the Way Coordinator, Lead Teacher, and Cotsen Fellow. Ms. Graves received her undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies with a focus in Mathematics from California State University, Long Beach and a Master’s Degree in Education/Educational Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
PTA is excited to welcome Ms. Graves to her new role and we look forward to continuing our work together!

How do I find out about important dates and school activities?
It’s important to read Ms. Graves’s weekly school newsletter during the school year. Not only does the newsletter include upcoming dates and important school information, but it’s a great place to get fun recaps, photos, and learning highlights from the week.
If you like important dates to appear on the calendar for you, we recommend subscribing to the PTA calendar! School holidays, early release days, and most school and PTA events for 2023-24 are already marked on this calendar and we do our best to keep it up-to-date during the school year so that our busy Bulldog families can stay on track!

What is School Year’s Eve?
Aviation’s annual School Year’s Eve event will be held Monday, August 28th from 5-6:30pm on campus. For returning families, it’s an opportunity to reconnect with school. For new families, it’s a chance to become better acquainted.

Where can I buy a school shirt?
During School Year’s Eve, PTA will be selling a limited supply of our new Aviation Elementary shirts. Shirts are available in a variety of youth and adult sizes and cost $10. After School Year’s Eve, please email us to arrange a purchase.
If you prefer to customize your school apparel or are looking for other items such as hoodies, hats, and water bottles, visit the Bulldog Store any time to place an order. Bulldog Store items ship directly to your home.
Will the free breakfast and lunch program continue?
Yes, California’s statewide Universal Meals Program will continue, which means that Aviation will provide a nutritiously adequate breakfast and lunch every school day to any student requesting a meal, regardless of their free or reduced-price meal eligibility.

Is there a school supplies list?
Aviation will provide students with all necessary supplies for learning. However, if you would like to support your student’s class by donating additional supplies or to find out what supplies you may want to have handy at home, please check with your student’s teacher once school begins.
We also recommend keeping a change of clothes and any necessary personal hygiene items in your student’s backpack!
When will I find out my student’s teacher?
Class rosters will be posted during School Year’s Eve on Monday, August 28th from 5-6:30pm. If you are unable to attend the event, rosters will be posted at the entrance gates on the first day of school.
What if I need before or after school care?
Right at School (RAS) provides on-campus before and after school care and is accepting fall registrations.
There are several home daycare providers who offer drop off/pick up services and off-campus care in the neighborhood as well.
